Resource Adoption Pilot Update
The following resources are under consideration at both High School (Integrated Pathway) and Middle School: Big Ideas, College Preparatory Mathematics, and Discovery Math Techbook. Also being piloted at Middle School is the Pearson System of Courses. Coming soon will be opportunities for any interested stakeholder to visit the pilot classrooms and see the resources in action in a classroom that is working on developing a culture of thinking. Creating Cultures of Thinking - Teacher Panel
Creating a classroom culture that supports the development of 21st Century Skills. This will be a great follow up to the Ron Ritchhart session in the morning. We will be sharing stories of teachers in Aurora striving to create a culture of thinking in their classrooms.
The New SAT: What you Need to Know
This course with acquaint teachers and other interested professionals with the new SAT. We will begin by discussing the stated purpose for the re-design, and examine the structure of the test. Did you know that up to 18 scores will be reported? Are you aware that a History score will be reported that incorporates scores from the Reading, Writing and Math sections? We will illustrate how each subscore is computed, and how that information will be reported to post-secondary consumers. Finally, we will address specific steps you can take to inform and prepare your students for this important exam.
More than just talking: Strategies for structured interaction (k-12)
Research shows that oral language development is an essential component of instruction for English Language Learners at all levels. Participants will develop understandings regarding the importance of oral language development and a variety of strategies to use with ELLs.
