St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 5 | 25 MAY 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,
This weekend our Yr 6 students will be celebrating their Confirmation at Mass on Saturday night. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they celebrate this wonderful occasion.
Many thanks to Mr Chatt for the organisation and running of the Cross Country on Tuesday. The students had a great time and supported each other strongly with cheering, clapping and
words of encouragement. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who provided support to Mr Chatt, as helpers on the morning.
At some stage over the next week or two the school will be practising its Evacuation / Lock Down procedures to meet Work Health and Safety obligations.
Please remind your children about the COVID protocols around hygiene as it has become very
prevalent within the community again.
Please note that the Term 4 school reports will have some changes made and will present differently to reports of the past. This will happen as we need to meet some changes with SCASA and CEWA reporting requirements. Our current PP report will show some minor changes at the end of this term. There will be further information during Term 3 and Term 4.
The School Advisory Council will be sending home a survey today as part of the planning process for the school's new four-year Strategic Plan. Your input into this survey will provide valuable information for the strategic planning process that will take place this year.
I will be away tomorrow at a School Principal’s Day and next week I am involved in a Principal Review and a School Review. Mr Yock will be in charge during my absence.
A reminder that Friday, 2 June will be a pupil free day.
Students will finish the Term on Friday 30, June.
God Bless and keep safe.
Allen McMahon
Principal

National Sorry Day – Friday, 26 May
National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians right around the country.
Thank you to our Year 4G Class for leading our Sorry Day Assembly tomorrow, Friday 26 May, at 2pm for all Year 1-6 classes.

Confirmation Mass
We are excited to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our Year 6 candidates this Saturday, 27 May at 6pm in the St Columba’s Church.
Please keep our candidates in your prayers as they complete their final preparations, including a Retreat Day and rehearsal.

St Columba’s Feast Day & Bishop’s Lifelink Celebration – Friday 9 June
To celebrate St Columba’s Feast Day and the launch of the Bishop’s Lifelink Appeal all students will have the opportunity to wear free dress on Friday 9 June. A gold coin donation is encouraged to help us fundraise for this worthwhile cause. Further information will be released next week.

St Columba's Cross Country
Year 3 to 6 students attended the St Columba’s Cross Country Carnival on Tuesday, 23 May 2023. The students represented their faction over various race distances for their year level. The students were wonderful sports people cheering their faction and competitors on. At the end of the carnival it was McMahon who proved themselves worthy to win the Carnival. A special thank you to any parent helpers and supporters who attended the event.
