Revised School Calendar

This is the most recent ACS calendar that reflects changes due to weather-related closures. If we have more snow days, this calendar is subject to change again.

Deconstruction Station

Mr. Emry and Ms. Crystal have added a Deconstruction Station to the Dickson Makerspace. Basically, it will be a space where kids can take stuff apart in order to examine how things we use every day are constructed on the inside. So, we are looking for tools and stuff.

We are looking for the following donations--simple tools that students could use such as hammers, pliers, screw drivers, safety goggles, etc OR small broken items around the house...alarm clocks, fire alarms, baby monitors, radios, speakers, toasters, lamps, etc. Please do not send anything with glass. You can give donated items to anyone in the library.

We will exchange valentines Friday afternoon. I sent home a class list with report cards. Let me know if you need another one or use the link below. We are not having a "party", but will have some special activities, along with celebrating Garrison's birthday. Big Love.

Class Pictures

We will have class pictures Thursday @ 10:30. Students must prepay for pictures, which are $10.00. I sent home envelopes, but let me know if you need one. You can also pick one up in the office or just send in a check made out to Strawbridge Studios.

Camp Greenville

Information about Camp Greenville was sent home last week. If you did not get a packet, please let me know. Please send back the bottom of the blue form as soon as possible so we can determine how much scholarship money is needed to cover the cost of the trip.

In class, we got to learn how to use a robotic ball called Sphero. He rolls on the ground in any direction. You use an iPad to control it. You command it by hitting the plus button and hit a command like roll. You choose the speed, direction and how long you want it to roll. You can also make it change colors. We had a group challenge to make the sphero roll in a square- with even sides and a different color for each side. I thought it was pretty fun but it was hard to do in a group because everyone wanted to be in control of the commands. I hope that we will have different challenges with fewer people in each group.
