Students will be taking the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (MSTEP) this spring. The M-STEP will include summative assessments designed to measure student growth effectively for today’s students. English language arts and mathematics will be assessed in grades 3–8, science in grades 4 and 7, and social studies in grades 5 and 8. It also includes the Michigan Merit Examination in 11th grade, which consists of a college entrance exam, work skills assessment, and M-STEP summative assessments in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
3rd graders test window is April 25 - May 13
4th graders test window is May 9 - May 26
5th graders test window is April 11 - April 29
Whenever possible, please avoid scheduling appointments during the school day within your child's testing window.
MDE made available two new training videos explaining how to navigate the ELA and mathematics computer adaptive tests (CAT) on the M-STEP website. If you haven’t had a chance to view these videos, here are the direct links to the videos:
Food Service Accounts
By using parent portal, families are able to view the transactions in their children’s food service accounts. You can see deposits, purchases, and the balance available in the account. If you need assistance logging into parent portal, you can contact the secretary or Ms. Angela Smith (firstname.lastname@example.org or 435-8400, ext. 1216). If you have questions about the transactions you review in parent portal, after checking with your child to be sure they did not make a purchase about which they forgot to inform you (I’ve raised three kids!), contact Ms. Kim Stoid in our food services department at 435-8500, ext. 1123. She will be able to assist you.
Special Education Parent Advisory Committee
Target has a wonderful program that donates money to the school of your choice (choose Northwood). Click on the button above and sign up if you would like to support us every time you shop at no extra cost to you. The program is ending May 14, 2016.
The link includes behaviors that should be reviewed with students/practiced at events that extend beyond the school day. Appropriate behavior is for the safety of all participants. Supervision at events is the responsibility of parents.
