Rocket News

January 27, 2023

Dear Rocket Families,

This week our Rockets worked together on activities to promote kindness. Each grade level participated in a different activity to promote kindness in our school. Kindergarten students created a kindness photo background. Students in 1st grade created personalized cards to share with our community heroes, and they loved it! 2nd & 4th grade students became pen pals and shared kindness letters. Students in 3rd grade produced a kindness link chain, and 4th graders constructed a kindness quilt of kind acts. 5th grade students also completed a BINGO kindness board activity and teamed up with middle school students from our RSMS. Thank you to Britney Matcheck for all of her hard work, dedication, and support in helping to teach our students that kindness should be in your hearts forever!

Below are a few more updates from Peeples. Can you believe we have almost made it to February?

Student-led Conferences (Grades K, 2nd & 4th)

Join us next Friday, February 3rd, between 7:15-8:15 for our Student-led Conferences (Kindergarten, 2nd & 4th). Come and see your child(ren) take responsibility for their own learning and academic growth. If you have more than one child at Peeples in the participating grade levels, please start in your youngest child's classroom first. Each conference should last no more than 10-15 minutes. We would love to see you! Click here to check out our invitation containing artwork by one of our Student Lighthouse Team members.

Kindness Week

As we kicked off Kindness Week, we enjoyed an assembly with Stan Tucker who is the founder of Share Your Story program and the host of the Very Airy Library. Two students were selected from the school for always being kind, working hard and doing their personal best. They were both offered a writing scholarship to his summer program! Way to go Rockets!

Support for Griffin

As you know, Griffin was hit pretty hard and needs community help and assistance. We would like to support our sister community with a small food drive to gather non-perishable items that can be added to food starter kits. We will collect non-perishable items next week for Griffin. We will collect items from January 30th through February 3rd. All items will be delivered on Friday, February 3rd. Dry goods include rice, pasta, canned goods, cereal, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, etc.

Thank you for your continued support!

Leader in Me / Field Day T-shirt SECOND Order

This year we will have one t-shirt that will be used for Field Day and any Leader in Me events. We have decided to place one more order for shirts. If you are interested in purchasing the t-shirt for your child(ren), please click here for more information. A copy of the order form has been sent home with all students as well. The cost of each t-shirt is now $20. All orders are due Wednesday, February 8th.

Help us LOVE on our Teachers!

Each and every day our teachers pour their hearts and souls into our school. I could not be more proud of our staff and all that they are doing to keep our Rocket Leaders engaged and learning daily.

In the spirit of Kindness Week, join me with our PTO as we encourage all of our parents and students to take a moment to thank a teacher with any simple gesture to remind them how amazing they are to all of us! What better way to help our children learn how to give back to their community than by lifting up the spirits of their own teacher!

Chick-fil-A Spirit Night Returns!!

Chick-fil-A Night will be held next Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 at Wilshire Pavilion. We are returning to original Chick-fil-a Spirit Nights pre-COVID. Our school receives 10% of all orders placed during this time! This includes all dine-in, carryout, drive thru, and mobile orders placed between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. This is a great way to take a night off of cooking and support our school!

Important Message from Café

Please be reminded about our charge policy in the cafeteria. After three meal charges at lunch (a negative balance of -$9.00) an alternate meal is required to be given. The alternate meal consists of a cheese sandwich and a milk. If a student cannot have cheese, they will receive a side salad and a piece of fruit. We have quite a few students who are approaching this charge limit. At breakfast there are no charges permitted. An alternate meal of cereal and a milk will be provided if a student has a low or negative balance that will not meet the $1.75 price. We try our very best not to give alternate meals. We want our students to have a hot meal each day. If you are not receiving notifications from the School Nutrition Department regarding low or negative balances please reach out to either School Nutrition or Emily Morris, our Cafeteria Manager. Payments can be made using MySchoolBucks with a credit or debit card or by cash or check at school. Thank you for your continued support.
