We are working on writing stories in our journal for next week. We will also be writing about our trip to the pumpkin patch and what we saw and learned about in a real-life farm. Did your child have a favorite part of our trip? Did you discuss it with them? I loved the sunflowers (see the class pic) and I loved the excitement when they got to pick out their favorite pumpkin.

Shared Reading

We will be reading Fall books during Shared Reading time. We will also learn an "I'm a little pumpkin" poem.

SIGHT WORDS -- words we have learned so far:

I, a, we, like, can, go, am, the, AT, IS (new word in all caps)

We find them in our weekly stories that we read.

Unit Three is well under way. We will be working on numbers to ten, counting and one-to-one correspondence of counting. This week's game is called "Compare!" This game is the kinder-friendly game of WAR. They are deciding which numbers are greater than, less than, or equal to each other.

How you can help at home!!

-Parents can read every night and record in the home folders.

-Parents can review sight words every night.

-Parents can count out loud when you all are in the car driving to the store. (see how far you can count)

Just for Parents and Grandparents:

BOX TOPS WE ARE THE WINNER FOR SEPTEMBER!!! WE won a FREE RECESS for collecting the most Box Tops in Kindergarten. Please continue to save and send in all the Box Tops you can. Ask your family and friends to do the same. We have raised over $500 just this school year! That is awesome!

I have had some parents ask about costumes for the Fall Party. Pioneer Trail does not allow costumes at the school. Thank you for adhering to this request.

Thank YOUS go out to: Scout and Saylor's Mom, Blake's Grandpa, and Fox's Mom. They were the chaperones that helped to make our trip a huge success. Thanks again. We will keep the pie pumpkin your child picked. He/She will decorate it at the Fall Party and it will come home on Oct. 27th.
