My 2014-2015 School Year
The year I found myself
Introductory Paragraph
Before I started this school year, I was a different person. I was shy, did not have many leadership skills, and lacked inner strength. I have changed so much since then. Now, when I look back, I think that this year is the year I changed the most, not physically, but in my attitude and maturity. I will look back on 7th grade with fond memories in the future and remember it as the year I found myself.
Being A Shy Kid
I've been told by my family that as a child I was very shy. I would hide behind my mom whenever anyone would approach me. This shyness continued through grade school. I started coming out of my shell in 5th and 6th grade. However, in 7th grade my confidence soared. I definitely have no problem sharing my opinion with family and friends. In school, I am no longer hesitant to raise my hand and contribute to our class discussions.
Leadership
In my younger years, I was better at following instructions than giving them. Now, in 7th grade, I have the confidence to take the lead in school projects. My leadership skills are also exemplified on my swim team. I cheer all my teammates on and make sure they follow the time intervals. I even earned the Leadership Award from my coach at this year's Awards Ceremony!
Inner Strength
In grade school, I was very vulnerable to comments made by other people. I would become very emotional at any rude comment or criticism made towards me. I am more passionate about my beliefs and have developed an inner strength that can carry me through any situation.
Conclusion
This year is very meaningful for me because I have changed a lot. My shyness, leadership skills, and inner strength have transformed me into the confident, assertive and strong person I am today. All in all, 7th grade is one of the best years of my life and I will never forget it.
