In the Classroom . . . .
Language Arts - Our focus this week is close reading for information and analyzing text structure using our Time for Kids magazines. We'll also be reading about some WWI events and analyzing the different ways that the information is presented.
Science - Students will be learning about the history of astronomy and begin studying the characteristics of the universe. Because it is hard to do a lot of hands-on experiments, this unit involves a lot of instruction on nonfiction reading strategies and note-taking, as well as developing study skills to prepare for tests.
Social Studies -We are wrapping up our WWI unit. The quiz and Chapter 10 map are due on Friday. We will be starting a research project on Wednesday. Students will choose an aspect of the Great Depression to research. They will be complete an electronic project and share that information with the class.
