Principal's Corner: Parent Updates & Reminders
PHASE 3 Updates
Thank you all so much for your continued support and connection to Brookview as we have transitioned from Phase 1 to Phase 3 over the past weeks. With this in mind, I wanted to remind everyone that next week we are still in Phase 3 which is ONE full day of face to face instruction for those families that selected that option. Here are few reminders:
- Please make sure your child(ren) arrive on time to school.
- INSTRUCTION STARTS AT 7:40 AM.
- BREAKFAST ENDS AT 7:35 AM.
- DISMISSAL IS AT 2:20 PM.
- All Pre-K-2nd grade students must have an adult present for pick up and drop off unless there are older siblings (grades 3-5) present.
- Students need to bring school supplies, district laptops (2nd-5th), and bookbags to school.
- Please DO NOT send the workbooks to school unless the teacher specifies that they are needed. They make the student(s)’ backpacks extremely heavy.
- Masks must be worn at all times for students and staff. Per new CDC guidelines, face mask with built in filters/ventilation vents are NOT allowed at school.
- Due to Covid19, our water fountains will not be used to avoid communal contact and spread of germs. Students are encouraged to bring a labeled water bottle with them during face to face instruction.
- During face to face, our students are participating in Special Areas classes including Physical Education (P.E.). Please make sure your child(ren) wear appropriate shoes and clothing for those classes.
PHASE 4
Phase 4 begins on October 5, 2020. During this optional opportunity for students whose families have elected to participate in face to face will attend TWO full days of instruction a week. Please expect a reminder phone call or DOJO with your scheduled days beginning on September 28th. Please also remember that per district guidelines, the scheduled days CAN NOT be changed, unless approved by myself or Dr. Smith, our Assistant Principal. If your student will not be in attendance for face to face instruction or will be absent for remote learning, please notify your child(ren)’s teacher(s) in advance. Attendance will count for both face to face and remote learners.
Meal Distribution
Brookview will continue to be a drive-thru meal distribution site on Wednesdays from 11:00 am -1:00 pm for Brookview, Camp Creek Middle, and Seaborn Lee Elementary families.
Additionally, Fulton County Schools will continue bus meal transportation for Brookview. Brookview will now have two meal stops where the school buses will be parked in the designated neighborhoods from 10:45 am- 12:00 pm on Wednesdays for families to get meals for their Fulton County enrolled student(s). The Fulton County designated Bus Meal Distribution locations are listed below. Please note, parents or students that walk to the bus to receive meal distributions must be able to present either one of the following to receive their weekly meals: student’s barcode, student’s first and last name, or student’s lunch number. Your Attendance Matters!
Hey Pandas,
Announcements:
Let's go Pandas! We did it! Attendance is on the rise! Keep up the good work and remember communication is critical for attendance. Let’s all continue to Strive for Less Than 5!
Week 3- 98.04% of BVES students attended
Week 4- 98.47% of BVES students attended
FYI:
September is Attendance Awareness Month:
Schools, communities, and advocates across the nation have successfully taken steps to ensure children are attending school more regularly. What works is to take a data-driven, comprehensive approach that begins with engaging students and families as well as preventing absences from adding up before students fall behind academically. The key is using chronic absence data as a diagnostic tool to identify where prevention and early intervention are needed. With this data in hand, schools, families and community partners can together determine the causes of chronic absence, and implement approaches that address barriers to getting to class.
Shoutouts:
I would like to give a super special shout out to all of our teachers at Brookview for keeping students connected and engaged!
