Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates November 24, 2019
It was a wonderful week of winter sports and cultural exploration at Swansboro High School. Our Jamaican exchange team enjoyed working at York Castle High School and returned home safely this weekend. Congratulations to our JV and varsity basketball teams who had victories over Lejeune this week. Our JV and varsity girls also won against Richlands High School. Our wrestlers had a great day at Dixon on Saturday and a special congratulations goes to River Carroll for taking 1st place in the 160 lb category. Congratulations also to our indoor track athletes for an outstanding opening meet. Zach and Justin Biggs both qualified for states in the 55 meter dash and Justin broke the 2012 school record.
Swansboro High School is excited to announce our winter play: The One-Act Disaster, a spoof on Ocean's 11. It will be held on December 6th and 7th in conjunction with Swansboro Middle School's holiday show at Swansboro Middle. Tickets are $5.00 for the high school show and $8.00 for both. Tickets will be sold on Monday and Tuesday at lunch in the cafeteria. Please see the Swansboro High School website for more information.
Last week included the end of the 2nd grading period. Report cards will go home next Monday however parents can check grades now by simply having your student log into their PowerSchools account. Even though they are in high school, students still need to review their weekly progress with parents. Discuss classes they are struggling in and how we can partner to support their success. Please remember that students can sign up for additional help from teachers during our Refresh blocks daily.
Construction is continuing around our campus and carpet is currently being installed in the auditorium building. For this week, we will need all chorus and band students to use the outside doors to enter the chorus and band rooms. Mr. Hutson’s classes need to use the back door to the auditorium and enter through the back stage.
This week will be short and sweet but will include exciting athletic events to include basketball at home against Lejeune and an indoor track meet on Tuesday and the Dirty Bird Wrestling Tournament at home on Wednesday. There will be no school for students Wednesday-Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. We wish you and your families a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
