Oil Spill Project
By: Katie & Matt
There has been an oil spill in the waters off of our coast and it is our job to find the area of the spill using shapes like trapezoids, parallelograms, triangles, and rhombuses.
These are pictures of the work we have done to find out the total area of the oil spill.
The Total Area
Our final area of the oil spill ended up to be 514 miles squared. We should not be worried about the oil spill because there will be volunteers that help wash the animals and clean the ocean.
I don't think that our oil spill is an exact measurement, but we got as close as we could to the actual area of the spill. Our polygons got pretty close to the actual spill area and the measurements were close.
