Generosity across the school district
Charitable fundraisers garner community support
Whether it was people having their heads shaved or a PE teacher taking whipped-cream pies to the face from students, the past few weeks have shown how willingly Elizabeth students and staff will help a good cause and gain community support. Just a few examples:
- March 3 - Third graders at Running Creek Elementary raised $2,179.14 for the Wounded Warrior Project with their Goods and Services Expo.
- March 7 - Running Creek raised $8,511 for the American Heart Association.
- March 11 -- EHS raised $11,796 to help St. Baldrick's Foundation battle childhood cancer.
- March 11 -- EHS' FCCLA group coordinated the seventh Hunter's Legacy basketball tournament to raise money for Marshall Fire victims in Boulder County. The total will be shared in the next Good News Bulletin.
Goods and Services Expo
St. Baldrick's "Brave the Shave"
EHS theatre teacher Jennifer Barclay donated her formerly long hair to Wigs for Kids and had her head fully shaved for the Brave the Shave event.
Hunter's Legacy
Technology students place at state conference
EHS took seven students to the Colorado TSA State Conference at the Denver Marriott DTC Feb 24-26.
- Courtney Tauger, Dominic Richey, Wyatt Cook, Jacson Kearnsteam placed fourth in the Giant Jenga competition.
- Courtney Tauger placed second in Essays on Technology
Grinches, Sneetches and Things 1 & 2
Singing Hills Elementary students and teachers dressed as Dr. Seuss characters for Read Across America Day on March 2, which is also Dr. Seuss' birthday. Throughout the day, the school welcomed visitors from elsewhere in the district to read Dr. Seuss books to students.
Concert Band accomplishment
For the first time in school history, the EHS Concert Band, seen here at last week's concert, qualified to move on to the CBA State Concert Band Festival. The EHS band is one of 36 to advance from a field of 112 across the state to compete April 18 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
