- Wednesday, Nov. 15th - Issue report cards and IEPs.
Report Card Comments: Much thought should be given when creating report card comments. It is essential that we provide specific feedback and suggestions/opportunities for improvement in the report card comments. Statements included should be meaningful, positive, and accurate, yet tactful. Begin with something positive and include achievements earned by the student.
*As a reminder, Carolyne will be checking all 539 report card comments. Please take your time to edit your own comments and then swap comments with a colleague to check before submitting them to Carolyne. We will ask you to identify your ‘swap partner’ this year. The final copy will be submitted to Administration for review and there shouldn’t need to be any final edits.
NOTE: Homeroom teachers, please do not transfer grades until after 5pm on Monday 11/6. Otherwise, you will not capture Specialists grades and comments on your report cards.
By the end of the first semester...

VIRTUAL REFERENCE LIBRARY EXPANSION FOR FALL 2017
The Office of Professional Growth and Innovation and the Office of Instructional Technology are pleased to announce the expansion of the Virtual Reference Library with a collection containing several books on creativity, engagement and innovation, which support our focus on Transformational Learning. One book of note is The Innovator’s Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity, which was highlighted at this year’s Administrators’ Conference. Please see the book list below to review the additions to the collection.
The Virtual Reference Library is an online collection of 518 full-length professional books on a variety of relevant topics. The books can be read or listened to online or downloaded by chapter or article as a PDF document or an MP3 file for easy sharing with staff. Unlimited simultaneous access to the books in the collection enables the Virtual Reference Library to be an ideal resource for professional learning or
individual research. The Virtual Reference Library can be accessed through the Applications or Professional Learning menus on the Intranet (vbcps.com). The launch page contains directions, tutorials, topical book lists, and direct links to the most accessed books.
Please share the attached information with staff and encourage the instructional leaders in your building to use the books as a resource when planning professional learning.
