The Pamlico Sound is located next to the outer banks and extends inland a few miles. Estuaries like the Pamlico Sound are important to everyday life for humans, animals, even plants. Estuaries provide habitats for local animals and plants. They also provide a fishing spot for us.

Threats
The Pamlico Sound has been faced by many problems, some biger than other. One of these problems is population growth, with more people needing water from the sound it slowly drains the it's water. Another is erosion of nearby sand and other minerals which begins to pollute the water.
