Lion Pride @ Surrey Hills
Definition of Pride: King's Gate Christian School Family
Let Their Light Shine
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
Service Learning
Our 4th-6th graders are part of our Service Learning class which is taught by Amanda Richards. Just a glimpse of the items they are covering:
- character development
- characteristics of a leader
- teamwork
- importance of serving others
It is our Service Learning students who are performing skits which showcase the monthly character trait at LionPride each month. We are thankful for the many ways they are serving King's Gate.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
Going Into the Community
In December, the 4th-6th graders went and worked at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The Regional Food Bank is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization and a member of Feeding America’s network of Food Banks. They provide enough food to feed more than 136,000 hungry Oklahomans every week, 37 percent of which are children. Since its inception in 1980, the Regional Food Bank has distributed more than 613 million pounds of food to feed Oklahomans living with hunger.
The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma depends on our strong volunteer force to fulfill their mission of "Fighting Hunger...Feeding Hope" in central and western Oklahoma which is where our 4th-6th graders played a huge role. Every day, volunteers sort, pack or make enough food to fill a semi-truck! Our students packaged enough meals to feed 1,188 kids. This experience impacted our students! According to one of our students, "I liked doing this because I knew that I was helping other kids who don't have food. We created an assembly line to send food home with students so they could eat over the weekend."
We are so proud of our Service Learning Students who represented King's Gate Christian School in our community to share the light of Jesus with all.
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the LORD Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35 NIV
Reading Buddies
Our 6th graders share the gift of story time monthly with our adorable Child Development Center students. The "littles" who range in age from one to four years of age love hearing these stories. This month, they loved hearing Christmas stories. We cherish the opportunity to share our gifts with those around us.

Thankful Hearts
Merry Christmas!
Today was our last day before Christmas Break. We pray for God's richest blessings for you and your family this Christmas season. In the incarnation, God became Man and Jesus came and dwelt with us to show us the glory of the Father. It is a joy to partner with you in Christian education, helping your child see and pursue the Glory of God in his or her academic studies and in their eventual vocations. We trust that your Christmas break will provide you and your family with rest and joy.
We will see you back at King's Gate on Thursday, January 4th, 2018!
Thank you for trusting us with your children
