August 15 - August 19, 2016
Welcome to North Riverside Jeff, Megan, Meghan, Tina, Patti, Sharon and Stacey!
Just a few days until our first week together. A new year, a new perspective, another new beginning... a road trip. What will we learn? Where will the adventure take us?
It was once said, "The journey is better than the destination." The journey should be savored. Sometimes we are in such a rush to get to a destination - mountains, islands, beaches, airports, Grandma's - we miss the most important aspect -- being together.
Are there times we miss being together
Rushing to get to a destination?
What's the destination?
Why are we in such a rush?
If we are not enjoying the ride (learning and growing)?
What is the point or purpose?
We should enjoy the collaborative planning,
the professional learning communities,
the curriculum documents
and the goal-setting.
And as long road trips often encounter -- squabbles will happen.
Minor disagreements, setbacks and roadblocks.
What will we do?
REST STOP ahead!
Take a break.
Stretch our legs.
Look at the Map.
Mission, Vision, Expectations.
But keep moving TOGETHER.
Because slow and steady finishes the trip.
Slow and steady: Ensure we meet our diverse students needs
Slow and steady: Learn about the curriculum documents
Slow and steady: Create common assessments and benchmarks
Slow and steady: Look out for each others' mental, social/emotional well-being.
Slow and steady: Create an environment in which happiness & camaraderie is the norm.
Think about what a wonderful road trip this is going to be - filled with learning and colleagues who are like-minded in happiness and joy.
Remember you hold the key. Let's go!
