Bonita Vista High School
Dear Baron Parents and Community,
We are having a wonderful first quarter! Please encourage your students to put forth their best efforts. Progress Report 1 is September 5. Reminder that Open House is this Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 p.m. Wishing you a wonderful night with your students' teachers.
In an effort to increase our social/emotional efforts within our school, we are implementing Wellness as our first schoolwide theme for quarter one. Please view the Principal's Monday message every week, as well as support our efforts on Wellness Wednesday messages and activities.
Respectfully,
Dr. Roman Del Rosario, Ed.D.

School Highlights
Be well, Barons!
On today's Principal's Morning Message, Dr. Del Rosario speaks of wellness with Dr. Martha Ingham. Make sure to check out the video above and also read below for this week's Wellness Wednesdays message.
Best of luck, Nikolas!
Congratulations to Nikolas Komatina for being accepted into FC Barcelona’s Residency Academy located in Casa Grande, AZ for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. After attending a Residency ID Tryout Camp, Nikolas was selected to join the prestigious academy tied to the Spanish club that is known for its high rate of professional signings. Nikolas began his Junior year at Bonita Vista High School but immediately moved into the FC Barcelona Residency training facility last week and will be receiving academic instruction from the Arizona State University Preparatory Academy. Due to the quick nature of this change, Nikolas would like to thank his peers, teachers, and mentors along the way for helping him in the pursuit of his career ambitions.

Wellness Wednesdays
The objectives of Wellness Wednesday are to encourage us to manage our mental wellness,
motivate us to express acts of kindness, and promote self-care. Our Wellness Wednesdays message will consist of a SELF-CARE tip, KINDNESS CHALLENGE, and an AFFECTIVE STATEMENT:
Self-care is crucial for our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. In order for us to
be the best we can be for our students, parents, and staff, we have to take care of
ourselves first.
- Kindness is very important in creating a sense of community and belonging. One small
act of kindness can release an enormous chain of positive events. We hope our weekly
challenge will encourage our entire SUHSD to “choose kindness.”
- Affective Statements connect individuals with how their behavior is “affecting” or impacting self or others. Using affective statements helps us to specify the behavior that we, or others, are exhibiting and encourage or discourage that behavior while improving or maintaining the relationship between individuals. Affective Statements usually take the following format: “I feel ______ when you ____ because______”
Today’s Wellness Wednesday Message:
SELF CARE:
Use your calendar to schedule “me time” to do something you enjoy.
KINDNESS CHALLENGE:
Smile, make eye contact, and say hello to others on your way to class. Smiling signals friendliness and encourages positive interactions.
AFFECTIVE STATEMENTS:
I am so appreciative of you/your...
Be Well Barons!
