A Great Week

Testing for half of the building for an entire week could lead to a really lousy week....but not for our Lions! Thank you to Leigh Anne for working to create a schedule that allowed students to test and not become totally burnt out by Tuesday. Thank you to grades K-2 for changing your schedule to accomidate the CASE 21 testing this week. Things that I heard from teachers this week that was confirmation that we are doing great things here to prepare our students to do their best. Thank you for talking about perseverance, working through things that might be difficult, and starting the week with goals for students to work towards with their performance on this assessment. I feel strongly that we set our students up for success and I'm very hopeful that we will see growth from the first CASE 21 assessment.

Melissa, Ashley, and Jennifer will be attending a PD on Monday from the CASE 21 vendor to hopefully learn more about ways to better utilize the data that is given to us from the assessments. We've got limited time to make our final push to support our students mastery of grade level standards for this year before the TNReady. We've done a great job this year supporting growth and mastery of standards with our students. I'm very hopeful we will see some good gains that will support the work we have put in this year to improve student growth.

Learning Walk Throughs Starting Next Week

To continue our own professional growth we will start learning walk thoughs next week. For easier access I've created a "Learning Walk Through" folder in our shared drive. The overview of the protocol for walk throughs are located in there as well as the form that will be used to provide feedback to teachers that are visited.

The master list and schedule will be on a clip board outside Leigh Anne's office on the counter. When you an your walk through team (teams of 2-4) are ready to spend 15 min (20 if you have the time) in a classroom, just come by the office and identify where you are going on the clip board and then go visit! Once you are done with your visit sit with your team and complete the Google Form in the shared drive. One form for the group....not one per person who visited. Consolidate what you saw and what feedback you want to give to the person you visited. Our goal is for everyone to have one walk thorugh done before spring break and then two more doen before the end of the first week of May.

We hope that this process of visiting each other using this protocol will provide opportunities for us to share some of the great practices that are happening in our building with standards and objectives, feedback, student to student discourse, and diverse questioning.

March News Letter

Thank you to first and second grade for being ahead of the curve and sending me their grade level updates. I will need any other updates or additions to the monthly newsletter by next Thursday afternoon. A few of you have mentioned some overarching ideas that you thought might be good for the newsletter to parents. If you have any idea that would be well shared in the parent newsletter, please send it along.

2020 Tennessee Educator Survey

Please take time to complete the 2020 Tennessee Educator Survey. I believe that the email has already gone out, but if you haven't seen it be on the look out. I've already been contacted by an incoming K parent regarding the information she saw on last year's survey in addition to our achievement data that is also on the state website. This survey provides us useful information about out school as it is TODAY and gives people who are not at Lincoln an idea of what our school is like from the people who know it best--the teachers! We have done great things here at Lincoln. It is by no means perfect, but please remember how far we have come (knowing that we will continue to grow) when completing this survey. We want to hear what all of think about what is happening here at Lincoln during school year 2019-2020.
