WMS Principal Update
Distance Learning 2020
April 6, 2020
Good Afternoon Woodbury Middle School,
We hope you had a restful and healthy weekend. To keep everyone informed, we will be corresponding weekly to update students and parents of any changes to our distance learning program. Usually, these updates would come in the form of our Weekly Warrior, but I have decided to put that on hold until we return. So instead, I will continue with the Principal Update for now.
Each day, a video announcement and the Pledge of Allegiance are uploaded into the student Family Folder. Mrs. Greene, our Assistant Principal, leads the news with the latest information and topics such as birthday “shout outs” to our students and other relevant information for students. If you would like to see the announcement, your son or daughter will assist you in logging into the Family Folder.
Report cards for the second trimester are in the process of being sent electronically. Please look for them in the coming week. If you have any concerns regarding the report card, please contact the teacher as they will be the best person to clarify any specific questions.
Throughout the Distance Learning process, we have been fortunate to receive informative feedback from students and parents. Thank you, and keep the feedback coming as it helps guide us in providing the best program for our students. The first change we are making is to include a short break in the academic classroom time. We will be adding a short break in the schedule to allow students to get up, get away from the screen, and move around. This break will occur after the D or E blocks. We will let the students know about this in our morning announcements.
Parents of eighth-grade students who deposited money for the Washington D.C. trip will need to complete a Google form that will be sent out later this afternoon. The completed response assures us that we are returning money to the proper place. Please complete this form, and refunds will be mailed soon. If you have any questions regarding the process, please email one of the administrators.
Eighth-grade students were reminded in today’s Morning Announcement to complete the assignment in their ELA class that speaks of a significant memory or special moment. These will be included in the yearbook. It is due Wednesday, April 8th, by the end of the school day. Memories not completed by this time will not be included in the yearbook.
Reminder, there is no school Friday, April 10th, in observance of Good Friday. April break will start Monday, April 13th through April 17th.
Have a safe and healthy week,
Bill Nemec
