Pilgrims on the Way of Truth

Starting off STRONG!

Our Back-to-School night was a huge success! It was amazing to see Landers Pavilion PACKED with our families, eager to welcome and support this new school year.

A special thank you to our Parent Association for serving refreshments for all our guests. Mrs. Hines, Mrs. Lee, and Mrs. Birkhoff also dedicated their evenings to share volunteer information with all of our families, as well as provided sign-up sheets for future involvement in both the Parent Association and Fine Arts Boosters. It is so important that we remain involved in our students' lives. We understand the "volunteer-fatigue" that can happen by the time the students get to high school, so every offer to help is very appreciated! When you think about it, we no longer have to run out (the night before) and get Valentines, stay up late and bleary-eyed to help glue dioramas, or even stop by Jewel to pick up class cupcakes on the way to school! However, our students remember the parents who served them the ice-cold Sprite as they came off the Homecoming dance floor, or cookies during intermission of a packed Spring Musical. They even are proud (secretly) that it was THEIR parent who was there to make sure these cherished events are memorable. If you haven't done so already, please fill out the interest form linked below! Be sure to join the Parents' Association for their first meeting of the year on Sept. 5th at 7pm in the Annex, or (and!) the Fine Arts Boosters meeting on Sept. 14th at 7pm in the Auditorium!

Also, a special shout out to our incredible Development Team (Mrs. Schaefer and Mrs. Hirsch) for setting up a Spirit Wear Shop right in our Gym Commons area and offering cash-and-carry items to take home with you! A huge amount of the newest items that arrived just that morning were bought out! We have already placed orders to keep our shelves stocked for our eager fans!

You may have also had a chance to stop by our Jostens table to meet Mr. and Mrs. Todd Crandall! Many of you already know them from St. Thomas the Apostle parish - so it is such a pleasure and honor to expand our partnership with this wonderful, faithful couple and respected company! Seeing all the Class of 2018 graduation gear may have made a few senior parents a little misty-eyed too!

Around the school, we had some great excitement as our Fall Play auditions progressed through initial try-outs, to call-backs, to the final cast list posting! They also hosted a tech-crew meeting, so we have several very happy "theatre-kids" now that our season is officially underway! (Summer IS a very long time in between shows, after all!) Congratulations to the new cast and crew! We can't wait to come and see The Miracle Worker Nov. 17-19th!

Student to Student Campaign: HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF DRIVE

Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey! As a school community, we especially wanted to reach out to aid the Catholic schools who will also need assistance to repair, rebuild, and continue to serve their students and families through this difficult time.

We are pleased to announce that we will be conducting a SCHOOL-WIDE RELIEF DRIVE through all Theology classes September 11-15th!

The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is launching a campaign asking every Catholic school family around the country to contribute at least $1 per student to help Catholic schools impacted by the storm to rebuild, reopen and re-enroll students. "Student to Student: A Catholic School Response to Hurricane Harvey" is a powerful opportunity to engage students in living the Gospel message of compassionate service and generosity to others.

Through this initiative, NCEA is asking for contributions from students and families enrolled in all Catholic schools to assist their peers. But we can only do this with your help.

Here’s how we can ALL help:

  1. September 11th - 15th, we will be running our "Student to Student Campaign."
  2. Collect at least $1 for each student from families who wish to give.
  3. Marian Central will then prepare a single check made payable to NCEA.
  4. NCEA will distribute 100% of the funds collected to dioceses in the affected areas for their Catholic schools in vital need of support due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey.

Guidance Student Support Has New, Improved Structure!

In our continued effort to best serve our students and families, we have restructured our Guidance support! Starting this year, student Guidance Counselor assignments will be split alphabetically! The Guidance Counselor your student has during freshman year will be the same through senior year! This way, we will really be able to get to know and anticipate the academic, social/emotional, and post-graduate planning needs of our students!

Here are the assignments:

All students with last names beginning with A-F have Mrs. Rebecca Reed

All students with last names beginning with G-N have Mrs. Kelly Hilton

All students with last names beginning with O-Z have Mr. Tom Kruse
