National Honor Society
National Honor Society is a society at Piedmont Academy that inducts students based on character, leadership, community service, and grade-point average. Ms. Kimberly Kummel is the current National Honors Society advisor, but she did not have a choice as to which students entered into NHS. Students must have all of these qualities in order to be considered for National Honor Society. Each candidate was interviewed, and after the interviews concluded, the teacher panel chose certain students to be inducted into NHS. The induction ceremony was held during study hall on Thursday, April 12th in the old gym. The following students were inducted into the National Honors Society: Rob Allgood, Gracie Black, Cassidy Cook, Hailey Hooper, Ezra King, Lillie King, Kelsey Leach, Emily Mills, Loren Pope, Deacon Robinson, Zach Spivey, Lucy Tuggle, Morgan Whitley, and Caitlyn Young. Each inductee received a certificate, and they were required to sign a book with all of the signatures of past inductees. Also, the inductees repeated a pledge of honor in order to be inducted successfully. Congratulations to all of the inductees!

Piedmont for 15 years and has taught Pre-K4, 2nd grade, and elementary school math, science, English, and history. She has coached cheerleading and was in charge of the Catch a Cougar auction from last year. Her two sons, Jake and Will, go to school here, and her family helped build Piedmont. We are very blessed to have her at our school.

Rock Eagle Trip
Every year, the PAC 5th-grade class goes on an overnight trip to Rock Eagle with 4-H. On April 11th and 12th, they got to explore Rock Eagle and learn interesting facts about the history of Rock Eagle. They also got to climb up to the top of the viewing tower and see the giant rock eagle from above. They stayed in the cabins, went to a bonfire, ate in the dining hall, and participated in other various activities. Our 5th-graders had a lot of fun at Rock Eagle!

Prayer Team
Erica Peden is a teacher at Piedmont Academy, and she decided it would be beneficial for the school to set up a link on Piedmont’s website specifically for prayer. On the website, people can insert prayer requests, and their needs will be prayed for by the prayer team. The goal of Prayer Team is to pray for God’s will for Piedmont Academy. When Mrs. Peden was asked why she created the Prayer Team, she responded, “So that the school would have a network of people who were praying for our faculty, students, and staff along with their specific needs.” The prayer team is made specifically to guide Piedmont through Christ!

Devotion
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
Every person could name five things that they would love to have, but they are unable to obtain for various reasons. For example, a new car, a million dollars, or fame sound great to many people, but these possessions can separate us from God. When we begin to focus on material possessions such as these, we shy away from God and His word. 2 Corinthians 4:18 is such a great verse because it can also be applicable to activities such as gossip, worry, fear, etc..
All people have been challenged with gossip as well as more materialistic things such as not being able to afford a new car, but God reminds us that these things do not matter. All things on this earth are temporary, and they will have no value when we reach Heaven with God. We cannot see God or Heaven, but we do know that both are there. God and Heaven are eternal, and both will matter for all eternity, unlike materialistic things. We cannot gain true joy from anything other than eternal matters; therefore, fix your eyes on Heavenly matters.
