Canvas: Learn, Share and Create
Date: Wednesday, July 8, 2015
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm (5 Act 48 Hours)
Location: Friendship Room
Price: FREE to district employees with a Canvas Contract through the CAIU and $85/person without a Canvas Contract.
Description: This workshop is designed for teachers to explore and learn about how to use Canvas effectively and efficiently. Canvas is a learning management system that offers teachers and students the flexibility to provide synchronous and asynchronous instruction and learning opportunities. Students and teachers are able to communicate and collaborate effectively using the interactive tools available in Canvas. Canvas also allows teachers to keep track of student achievement and give feedback about their progress. Learn about how to organize content, utilize the wide variety of tools and motivate your students!

Google: Be Effective and Efficient
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm (5 Act 48 Hours)
Location: Juniata Room
Price: $55.00 ($30.00 for CAIU teachers)
Description: Join us to learn about how Google Apps can help you to work more efficiently and collaborate more effectively. We will explore a variety of Google tools and Apps that can be utilized by teachers to increase productivity and integrated into classroom lessons with students. We will explore:
- Google Drive (Docs, Forms and Sheets)
- Chrome Browser (features, Apps and Extensions)
- GMail
- Calendar
- Google +
- Other Cool Google Tools
Bring a device and make sure you have a Google (gmail) account.
Moodle: Learn, Share and Create
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm (5 Act 48 Hours)
Location: Friendship Room
Price: FREE to district employees with a Moodle Contract through the CAIU and $85/person without a Moodle Contract.
Description: This workshop is designed for teachers to explore and learn about how to use the latest version of Moodle. Moodle offers teachers and students the flexibility to provide synchronous and asynchronous instruction and learning opportunities. Moodle allows teachers to keep track of student progress and achievement. Students and teachers engage in interactive assignments, discussion forums, chatting, assessments and much more. Learn how to keep your students engaged and organized with Moodle!

Karen Ditzler has been the Instructional Technology Specialist at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit for over 5 years. She taught second grade for ten years in West Shore School district. She was also an Instructional Integration Advisor at the elementary level. Karen is a Google Certified Teacher and a STAR Discovery Educator. She is passionate about infusing technology into education and finding ways for students and teachers to connect with people around the world.
