SAT & ACT
College Admissions Exams
What is the SAT? What is the ACT?
Do I need to take the SAT or ACT?
You must take one of these tests for admission into the majority of four-year colleges and universities. Some colleges require a specific score for admissions purposes and some will accept any score; you must check the college admissions webpage for more information from your specific college of interest.
You do not have to take these tests if you are going to a community college; however, you may find that many scholarships require a test score and you may want to complete one of these tests to remain eligible for these scholarships. If you do not take the SAT or ACT, it is likely that you will have to take placement tests at the community college you attend. They will test your skills in various subjects and place you in the appropriate level classes for each subject area.
