CIVIC ENGAGEMENT SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION
Chandler High School has been selected as an Arizona Civic Engagement School of Distinction for 2017-2018. CHS is recognized for the work being done to prepare our students to actively participate in their communities and government when they leave the school system.
MORGAN FOSTER DOMINATES INDOOR MEET
Congratulations to Morgan Foster who competed against mostly collegiate runners at the University of Washington Preview indoor track meet and finished fourth overall in the 1,000 meters at 2 minutes, 48.10 seconds, and third in the 600 at 1:31.82. Her 1,000 meters time is the fastest among high school girls this year, and her 600 time is the second-fastest high school time. Morgan, an honors student with a 4.65 GPA, will be running at Stanford next year. Well done!

CHS UNITY WEEK AND ASSEMBLY
Last week, CHS celebrated Unity with themed days and lunchtime events sponsored by StuCo and the Equity and Inclusion Club. Thursday’s Unity Assembly was an awesome celebration of Chandler High’s diversity. Thanks to APAC, Desi Fusion, Modazz, Caden Carlson, XY Mao, Katherine Chou, Aaron Cross, Siquan Smith Jr, Samantha Salakaia, Bernard Kuma, CHS’s daycare children, and Mr. Kerry Croswhite and the Tempe Emerald Society Pipeband for sharing what makes CHS culturally unique and unified at the same time! Special thanks to Ruth Chavez and Randi Mitchell for doing a terrific job of emceeing the event.

CHS’s departments and programs were on display at last Thursday’s Curriculum Night. Thanks to everyone who came out to see what CHS is all about. Honors Night is this Wednesday; parents and students are invited to the CCA at 6:00pm to hear specific info about our 4-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and Advanced Placement (AP) Program. We can’t wait to welcome our new Wolves on campus in July!
CHEER CLINIC
All K-8th graders interested in pom and cheer: Please plan on attending our Mini Wolves Clinic on Saturday, January 26th from 9-11:00 am to learn chants, cheers, and a dance which will be performed at a varsity basketball game. ACT PRACTICE TEST
IB Boosters are sponsoring a practice ACT test on Saturday, January 26th from 8:30am-noon. Students can sign up in the College and Career Center during lunch B through Thursday, January 24th. Cost is $10. Cash or checks only (made out to CHS IB Boosters).

SENIOR PANORAMIC PHOTO
Parents/guardians and Seniors: Goldbeck Photography will here during 1st hour on Friday, February 1st, 2019 to take the annual senior panoramic photo in the courtyard.
Dress code is enforced; no hats, hoods, sunglasses, bandanas, no banners or signs, etc. will be permitted. It will be chilly so students should dress warmly. Goldbeck Photography will return on Monday, February 4th and Tuesday, February 5th during A&B Lunches to sell you your photos.

Chandler Education Foundation Scholarships are now open! Visit the CEF Scholarship site for more information on specific scholarships. Deadline to submit applications to Ms. Anderson in the Career Center is Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 2:30pm.
Juniors and Seniors interested in learning about different career opportunities through hands-on and interactive activities are encouraged to sign up in the Career Center by January 23rd to attend Maricopa Community Colleges: Exploring Possibilities information session on February 1st.
