Summer Technology Projects

The school year is winding down and while this feels like a long month…you have all done a phenomenal job introducing and using new technologies in your instruction and daily work life. This summer we will offer numerous professional development opportunities so be certain to check out all the options. We will be re-imaging all district devices this summer. That means it is CRITICAL that you back up any work that you may have saved on the desktop or hard drive to your Google Apps Account. Once we wipe that hard drive the data is gone so please take care of this by Friday, May 24th as we will be starting our work on Tuesday the 28th. And on an exciting note…The Board of Trustees and DISD Cabinet Members have approved an overhaul of the district wireless infrastructure. We will be adding cabling and access points in every classroom in Dickinson ISD over the summer. We hope you have a fantastic break of time to rest and recharge as well as time to sharpen all your instructional knowledge. Please remember that even the Tech Team unplugs from time to time…we hope you do as well. Thank you for all you do daily for the students of Dickinson ISD. GO GATORS!

Computer Backups

The Technology Department will be busy cleaning up your computers this Summer! So that you do not lose anything valuable, please move any files you want to keep to Google. Step by step instructions for backing up your computer, along with videos on each page showing the process, can be found at https://bit.ly/DISDBackups.

What does a virus look like?

  • Look for (DickinsonISD) following a user's name. This indicates the email originated from a DISD account.
  • If the section before the body of an email reads External, be cautious. It may appear to be from someone you know but could be a phishing email. Be careful not to open attachments or click on links.
  • Please do not forward an email you suspect is a virus, even to a person in the Technology Department. Your suspicions are probably right!
  • If you do suspect you receive a virus, delete it and remove it from your deleted items.
