In The Classroom... 6/3/2018
This is the last week of school for Track 1. We will host Mrs. Asher's class in our room on Thursday which is their last day. Our school will give a clap out to the graduating 5th graders and our grade level thought it would be awesome if we showed our pride for them by either wearing our school colors: black & orange or wearing a Willow Springs T-Shirt. No worries if you don't have either. It's completely optional.
On Friday is our big kickball tournament. The kids have been looking forward to this event and cannot wait to take on Mrs. Williams' class. Please be sure to have your child wear his/her class shirt as this will be our TEAM jersey. I don't have any extras for anyone who forgets. Also, be sure to send them with a large water bottle to help cool them off during the tournament. They can come to school with sunscreen on and/or wear a hat if needed. It will be a fun event with popsicles after.
I am so excited to share that the Confucius Institute is coming on Friday to teach the kids a little about China and what life is like for children there. It's going to be an awesome experience.
Don't forget that our Storybook Ball is in a week and a half. It begins promptly at 10:00 in our classroom on June 13th. The kids have been practicing reading aloud their fairytales and they cannot wait for this event. It's going to be magical. The kids can dress up as fairytale characters or in their Sunday best; it's up to them. I do consider this a formal event so you all are invited to dress up too!

Notes~
- WeChat- The photo to the right is the new WeChat QR Code. All you need to do is download the WeChat app; create an account and then scan this QR code. It will link you to my class WeChat where the you and the kids can follow my travels in China. They can ask questions, say hello, or just browse the pics that I post while away. It will be a great way to stay connected during this time. The QR code expires in a week. I will post a new one when it expires. I can also help you create an account and connect to the WeChat on the 13th after our Storybook Ball.
- Skype in the Classroom- Last week we connected with Point Lobos in California to learn about the Giant Kelp forest. The kids got to see seals lying on the beach and a sea otter swimming in the distance. It was a pretty cool experience. Ask them about it!
- End of Year Assessments- These start on Monday. The kids will be doing reading and written comprehension assessments along with our big math test. Please keep them rested and encourage them to do their best and to look over their responses. I will share their data with you once all assessments are complete.
- Interim Reports- If your child received an interim, please be sure to look over it; sign it and return it to school on Monday.
