Principal's Message
Our school will be participating in the Global Read Aloud. Over the next 6 weeks our students will participate in an author study, enjoying read alouds of books from author Yuyi Morales. Schools all over the world are reading these same texts and talking about it with others. It's like a giant global book club. Teachers will be tweeting and blogging and connecting with other classes to share their thoughts on the stories.
Some of the books students will read:
- Dreamers
- Viva Frida
- Nino Wrestles the World
How can you be involved?
Look for more books by Yuyi Morales at the public library and start talking about the books they read together at home.
5th grade science camp
Next week our 5th graders will travel to Loma Mar for the Outdoor Ed Science Camp. Students will depart Murwood on Monday, September 30th and return to Murwood on Friday, October 4th. Students will explore a wide variety of ecosystems with learning led by highly trained naturalists. Mr. King, Ms. Boeger and Ms. Logan will accompany our students for this amazing experience.

Notes From The Office
Lost and Found
With cooler weather approaching, the lost and found is beginning to fill up. To ensure we are able to reunite those jackets, sweaters, lunch boxes and water bottles to the correct student, please label, label, label all your child’s items.
Absence Notification
If your student is going to be out for any reason, please notify the office directly. There is a 24 hour attendance line for you to leave a message. Simply call the main office number at 925-943-2462. Also, you will receive a phone call from the office in the event your student has an unverified absence. Please be sure to clear any absence for which you receive a call.
Tardy Students
Tardy students must sign in at the office and obtain a tardy slip to give to their teacher.
Home Lunches
Parents we ask that when you pack your student’s lunch, please avoid glass containers of any kind as they are a safety concern. Instead, please use containers little hands can open. Also, please practice at home with your students making sure they know how to open packages and containers.
Volunteers
Thank you to all of the volunteers who have been following our procedure by signing in and obtaining and wearing a visitor badge while on campus.
Thank you.
