Welcome Back to School!
This year I will be teaching your student math. I will teach math to 2nd, 3rd, and 5th graders this year. I will send a newsletter weekly to communicate with you, inform and update you about what we are learning in class. You may also check eClass for the same communication and updates.
This week students did beginning of the year SPGs pretest in some areas. Therefore, for some students I was only able to see them 2 times this week.
This first week is really about math expectations during math workshop, adjusting to their new schedule, and reviewing previously taught concepts. Students will need to bring their math journal, math folder, math homework sheet for 2nd graders, and their agendas (3rd and 5th graders) daily to math. Each night, you should expect that your student will have math homework. I will send a message via Remind.com if there are unexpected changes. Please check the 2nd grade math homework sheet that is kept in the math folder each day. Please check the 3rd and 5th agendas each night - this is where their homework is written down for math. Third and fifth grade may have math homework some weekends. The 2nd grade homework sheet and the agenda (3rd & 5th) are the other ways that I will communicate with you daily. Please sign it daily if I have written you a note, especially, so that I know that you saw the note.
If you still need to sign up for www.remind.com, please do so. I can be reached through school email: michele_haile@gwinnett.k12.ga.us if you have any questions or concerns.
I'm looking forward to a great year!
Enjoy your weekend!

3rd Grade
Third graders were given a Math Rules sheet today, and it is front/back. It contains problem solving where students use math reasoning, logic, and calculations to solve them. It is due next Friday, August 17th. Students may work on it during this weekend or work on it a little each night. If a problem is too difficult for your student to figure out, please initial it and I will review it in class on Friday. We will work on a Math Rules at least twice a month.
