Weekly communication from Sunset Ranch - Nov 12th-Nov 16th
#Gratitude #Thanks #Kindness #GoldenRule
November is typically a month that we reflect and give thanks for the gifts in our life. With the fires in the last few days that have ruined acres of California, evacuated thousands, and taken lives, it seems even more important now to think about the blessings we still have. For example, we have a clean, safe school with qualified staff who care for your kid(s).
On October 8th, I gave myself a personal challenge to reflect daily on Twitter with a few sentences and/or a photo using the hashtag #DailyGratitude. I have continued this challenge through this month. It has shifted me into an intentional positive mindset, always thinking, reflecting, and honoring the things for which I am grateful. Family, health, colleagues, friends, random acts of kindness, our amazing S.T.E.A.M.S. school and more have popped into my Twitter feed and will continue to over the next month.
It is also very fitting that our Leaders of the Pack Student Council chose a Kindness Challenge to do this month as well, focusing on the 4 days prior to the Thanksgiving break. Kindness, gratitude, thanks, appreciation, love, and the Golden Rule (treating others as we wish to be treated) are all simple things that we often forget in our day-to-day busy lives. I hope that this week with this challenge, and throughout the month of November, that we can encourage everyone in our lives, especially our students at Sunset Ranch, to be intentional about being kind and thankful. Please see the previews of the K-2nd and 3rd-6th challenges below.
With Gratitude,
Ms. Hopton, Principal
