Positivity Project Resource for Families
P2 for Families is an easy and effective way for families to discuss the importance of character strengths and positive relationships. It is differentiated for grades Pre-K – 2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Each character strength follows a 1-1-3 model: 1 quote, 1 video, and 3 questions to drive conversations around character at home.
Please choose your child’s grade level found at the link below:

Hank, Pattie and the Current
from Raleigh, NC
Hank Smith and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw are old friends and serve as the core of this progressive bluegrass band. They both love the old tunes and traditional sound, but trained as classical musicians and have since branched out in new directions. In this short set recorded in downtown Raleigh you'll hear echoes of JS Bach and Bill Monroe. We recorded this set under a new art installation that's in front of the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

VIDEO LENGTH: 18:35
NOTES: Hank and Pattie are both music teachers and work as full-time musicians. Each instrument in this recording have very distinctive parts and there are lots of solos to show off the range of the musicians and their instruments.
If you need general language about this program to share with your school community, here you go:
Laurel Park is one of ten elementary schools in Wake County that will get a virtual visit from a bluegrass band participating in the 2020 World of Bluegrass, an annual event presented by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Our school will enjoy a performance by Hank, Pattie & the Current followed by a live virtual conversation with the musicians about the bluegrass tradition. This performance is supported by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County in partnership with Wake County Public School System, Wake County, PineCone, the International Bluegrass Music Association, and the IBMA Foundation.
And, if you would like to include images, United Arts logos are available at https://unitedarts.org/about/logos/ and a photo of the band is attached.
From you, I need two things:
1. Approximately how many students will be participating?
2. How to join your Google Meet classroom? I need to share these directions with the musicians.
What questions do you have?
I'm excited to make this happen!
