PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW

Dear Nancy Ryles,

This week, Beaverton School District announced the latest in its Return-to-School Plans. If you did not get a chance to read it, please take a few minutes to do so. It includes important information, such as dates of when Hybrid Instruction is tentatively scheduled to begin as well as tentative dates for Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI). For a full picture of what the Hybrid Instruction model will look like for students, please watch this video (in English) or this video (in Spanish). You also can read the Return-to-School FAQ for elementary students.

Early next week, you will receive an email which asks you to indicate which learning option you will choose for your student(s), either continue with CDL or start Hybrid. You will want to watch your inbox for the email and make sure that your ParentVue account is up-to-date and activated, because that will be how you select your student’s learning option. You will have until February 15 to submit your selection.

I realize that the return-to-school information brings up a lot of emotion. As a parent of three BSD students in a home with two working parents, I understand some of the challenges that you are experiencing. I also know that the needs are wide and deep and unique to each family. If you or your student(s) are in need of support during this difficult time (food/clothing/household items or social/emotional/mental health support), please call us at 503-356-2400, or get in touch with your teacher. We have a strong support team at Nancy Ryles, which includes our school counselor, Vicki Charbonneau, Student Success Coach, Kristi Miller, Social Worker, Karen Edwards, myself, as well as a strong Nancy Ryles Community Organization. We have access to community resources and will do everything that we can to help support you.

Respectfully,

Monica Arbow, Principal
