Message From The Principal

Westbrook Families,

It has been a busy week here at Westbrook. Thank you so much to the PTA and all of our parent volunteers for helping out with our Valentine's Day celebrations. Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed all the activities throughout the day!

If you have a moment, please consider taking the 5 Essentials Survey. This survey is very important we kindly ask ALL parents to take this survey. We use this data regularly to make school and district based decisions. In order for us to see the parent results of the survey, we need twenty percent of parents to complete the survey. Today, we have eight percent of our parent population that has completed the survey. We need a minimum of twenty percent to receive our parent results. Thank you in advance for your time to complete this survey! More information below!

Please click here to take the parent survey.

We are very much looking forward to our Family Literacy Night event here at Westbrook on Wednesday, March 8. The event will run from 5:30-7:00 and will include over twenty different teacher led sessions for families to attend. In addition to our sessions we will have our Book Fair open, a PTA sponsored photo booth, the Glenview Public Library will be issuing library cards and we will have snacks available for all! It is truly an exciting opportunity for the whole family!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Patrick

5 Essentials Survey

January 23 - March 31, 2023

Have you taken the 5Essentials Parent Survey yet?

Your input on this statewide survey -- given to parents of all students throughout the state of Illinois -- allows us to help us improve our schools for our students. As a parent, taking the survey will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered for the Illinois State Board of Education by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

Prior research in more than 400 schools shows that schools strong on at least 3 of the 5Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student outcomes.

Please click here to take the parent survey. We ask that you take the survey for each school in which you have a child. We will be pleasantly persistent in the coming weeks as we hope to reach 100% participation before the survey closes on March 31, 2023. We plan to use the results of this year's survey to give us a clear picture of our schools' climate and culture. If at least 20% of parents participate in the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated and we will share these results with the community.
