LEEdership Quality of the Week:
Caring for; trusting one another
A lesson in Leadership:
“Do not save seats in the lunchroom. If someone wants to sit down, let him or her. Do not try to exclude anyone. We are a family, and we must treat one another with respect and kindness.”
Lee Quote of the Week:

5th grade families – see below a special message from Coppell Middle School West PTO
Hello Lee Families!
We are so happy that you're interested in joining PTO Board here at CMSW! There are volunteer opportunities to match just about anyone's interests and availability. Our West PTO does great work to support the students and staff year after year. Volunteering your time on the PTO is a great way to stay plugged into what's happening on campus. Also, your child is likely to think you're really cool for helping out! If you're interested in joining our Board, please fill out this google form. We kindly request you to fill out the interest form by April 11th. Our Parliamentarian, Urmi Subramanian, will contact you with more information soon after the deadline. We look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Ritu Sethi
PTO President, CMSW PTO
What we are learning:
Reading this week, we will be continuing reading "The One and Only Ivan" and completing a workflow that focuses on four guiding questions. Learners have volunteered to read sections of the book in the class zoom. They are doing a wonderful job. In Language Arts, we worked on a creative writing activity about writing a receipt for fossil fuels. Learners' creativity shined on this project.
MATH
In Math, continued working on the conversion. Learners worked on solving problems by calculating conversion within the measurement system.
SCIENCE
In Science, we continued our unit on life science. We learned about inherent traits and adaptation. We focused on the structure and function of plants.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies, we took a virtual field trip to the 9/11 museum to learn about important events of the 21st century.
All elementary learners have access to free breakfast and lunch through the remainder of this school year.
Istation and Dreambox
We will be taking the February ISIP next week and goal setting.
Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Here is a step by step guide on how to complete this action
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
