Stem Cutting
Propagation by stem cutting is a very common method!
Materials Needed
-Plant Material
-Small Pots
-Growing Medium
-Rooting Hormone
-Sharp knife or Pruning Shears
Step one:Cut off a section of the stem
-When making your cut, you want to select a healthy growth that's at least 3 to 6 inches long. By making a sharp, you will avoid messing up the roots.(this could make it more difficult for the shoots to develop new and healthy roots)
Step two:Remove the lower leaves
- Strip off the leaves on the lower part of the plant so you have a bare stem for the potting mix. Then (if you feel necessary) dip the end of you stem into the rooting hormone.
Step Three:Pot Up your Cutting
-Right after step two, immediately pot up your cutting in moist potting mix. Make sure to keep your cutting humid.
- Every plant is different, so some plants will take longer than others.
