One Book, One School Program
We are kicking off our One Book, One School Program on Thursday, January 13. The goal of the program is to foster a culture of literacy in our school community. We will do this by encouraging families and staff to read aloud a particular text. We will assign specific chapters for families to read each week and the text will be discussed at school after the allotted reading time. For students whose families prefer to have them listen to prerecorded chapters at school instead, those will be available for them during the school day. We will have other fun activities in school week to accompany the reading. We are very excited to kick off this fun program for the second year and reveal this year’s chosen book. Our Woods Creek PTO has purchased a book for every family in our school and the family copy will be sent home with one student in each family on January 13. Thank you, Woods Creek PTO!
Student Vaccination Information
This information is being shared from the District 47 website:
Per the ISBE/IDPH Guidance for Schools, getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the most effective mitigation strategies for minimizing the spread of COVID-19. Per the FDA, children ages 5-11 are now eligible for the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine. District 47 does not plan to host any vaccine clinics for children as the vaccine is expected to be widely available at pediatrician and medical provider offices as well as pharmacies. Like adults, children who are fully vaccinated will not need to quarantine or be excluded from school if they’ve been exposed to COVID-19 unless they are symptomatic or test positive.
The vaccination status of eligible students will be requested to ensure proper protocols are followed in the event of a COVID-19 exposure or outbreak. If deemed a close contact, students who have been vaccinated will NOT need to quarantine unless they are symptomatic or test positive for COVID-19. If a student is vaccinated and the district does not have proof of vaccination on file, the student will be treated as if they were unvaccinated and be subject to contact tracing and quarantine. If your child has received the COVID-19 vaccine, families are requested to provide proof of vaccination by dropping off a copy of your child's vaccination record at the school’s main office or by scanning and emailing it to the school.
