No School TOMORRW Friday, October 9th - NEOEA Day
A message from the Principal
One of the biggest let-downs so far this year will probably be our annual Halloween celebrations. As you saw in last week's newsletter, we will not be celebrating Halloween in any way at school. Students will not be dressing up or having any kind of party. I do encourage your child to wear his/her typical Halloween colors or clothing sporting pumpkins and Halloween spirit whenever he/she likes throughout all of October. Please refrain from sending in any kind of treat to school. They will not be passed out to students.
Next year we will hopefully be able to get back to the little things, such as this, that the students look forward to!
Thank you for understanding!

Art to Remember
The Suffield art department is once again hosting the annual Art to Remember fundraiser. This year students can participate virtually. If you have questions, you can email katy.tannert@fieldlocalschools.org with questions.
Conference Sign-Ups
It’s that time of year when we begin to make plans for the upcoming conferences. Because it’s been so long since our students have been in school, this will be one of the most important conferences you can attend. This year, conferences are being held on Monday, November 2 from 8:00-11:00 am, Thursday, November 12 from 4:30-8:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:30-8:00 pm. We will be available to meet with parents in-person or via Zoom. When choosing a conference time, please type ZOOM next to your child’s name if you would desire this option. The teacher will then share the link with you before your conference. If you wish to attend in person, just write your child’s name and we will expect you at school. The link for you to sign up for conferences will be emailed to you later today.

Message From the School Clinic
Please make sure that your child has a few masks at home so that he/she is not wearing the same mask every day. If you do not have any extras and would like another for your child, we have some in the office. A parent made them and donated a variety of awesome masks. We'd love to help you out!
A clean mask will help keep everyone healthy!

Counselor's corner
Hello Field Families!
Anxiety, there are many different things the parents and guardians can do to help their child when they are feeling anxious. Your student is not alone, childhood anxiety has been becoming more common with over 4.4 million children from ages 3-17 being diagnosed with anxiety. Here are somethings you can do to support your child when they are feeling anxious:
Remind your child that their feelings are valid and okay. Give them time and space to share how they feel without judgment.
Set a time each day/week to talk about their worries.
Help your child focus on what they can control.
Help your child develop ways to cope with and manage their anxiety, such as:
Deep breathing
Talking to you or another adult
Journaling or drawing
Focusing on what they can control
Using positive self-talk
Exercising
For more information on anxiety and how to help your student, check out my Counselor's Corner website and check out the Coffee with the Counselor section.

Crayola Colorcycle Program
Crayola and schools across North America have banded together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Suffield Elementary will now take part in recycling markers that no longer work. It’s a super easy project to help our environment! You can send in any brand of markers, sharpies, dry erase, and highlighters. Once we collect the markers, they will be shipped to a facility that repurposes them so that they are kept out of the landfills.
