Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
Friday, September 27, 2019
Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
It was such a pleasure seeing so many of you at Back to School Night on Wednesday. We hope you enjoyed the evening as well and were able to connect with your child's teachers. Those relationships are crucial components to ensuring a successful school year. Over the coming months, please do not be hesitant to reach out or feel like you are being burdensome. Communication lines need to stay open so that the home-school partnership remains solid; this newsletter, in fact, is the main way we are trying to keep everyone informed.
Our partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey kicked off this week. The Junior-Senior High School is now a host distribution site. Please contact Mr. Myers (856-853-0123 ext. 225) for more details if you or anyone you know could benefit from this program.
Eagles safety Rodney McLeod will be returning to Woodbury on Monday for the second installment of his OHIP program with an assembly for our high school students.
Enjoy the weekend with your families!
Striving to bring out the best in every student,
Dr. Vivadelli

AVID Update
Recently, some of our AVID upperclassmen spoke with our freshman giving them tips on how to be successful academically. They also shared strategies on how to make the most of their high school careers. These 9th graders soaked up the knowledge and immediately started putting it to good use in tutorology. Great job!
Mrs. Muldoon's Classes
Mrs. Muldoon’s Literacy 8 students put forth a lot of effort getting to know one another during the first few weeks of school. They utilized interviewing and presentation skills to create Biography posters to introduce their assigned partners to their classmates. If you would like to see the fruits of their labor, visit the Junior-High hallway!

" Be yourself; everyone else is taken." - Oscar Wilde
3. What is one of your hidden talents?
I really enjoy sewing pillow cases and curtains.
4. What are your "trapped on a desert island" books or movies?
Don Quixote for sure.
5. If you could take your students on a field trip to anywhere in the world, where would you take them?
I would take them to Puerto Rico, my birthplace and one of the most amazing places in the world in my humble opinion.
6. What is one piece of advice you would give to your students?
I would tell them to be open-minded, kind and forgiving to everyone especially to themselves.

The Weekly Update
21 Century After School Program
Hello Parents and Guardians!
Last week was our welcome back kick-off for the 21st Century After School Program. Students were sorted into one of six different Houses: Lion’s Den, Penguin Patch, Hungry Hippos, Brave Bears, Diamond Doves, or the Manor. While in these groups they learned more about the variety of activities that are offered after school, and were able to choose in which activities they would like to participate. We ended the week with a display of the banners each House made, games, and a pizza party!
Some parents have contacted me with questions about how to reach their student(s) during the program for early pick-up. While we understand that some activities require your student(s) to leave the program early, we ask that you not pick them up before our new 5:30 dismissal time if possible. If you do need to try to reach the program to pick-up your student(s) you may call our secretary Ms. Cleminson at 856-853-0123 ext. 212.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me! I look forward to continuing creating a program that is purpose-filled fun and learning.
