Classroom Lesson Topics for March-
Kindergarten: Making Friends
Discuss with your children what qualities you think are important in friends. Come up with some examples of how your friends have shown these qualities and how they have helped you.
First Grade: Dealing with Bullying
1st: Students heard the story of how Howard B. Wigglebottom learned to deal with bullies. Discuss with your students the information found here: https://wedolisten.org/uploads/34b017_bullies_lessons.pdf
Second Grade: Goal Setting
Watch the video or read the book, "The Little Red Hen" by Diane Muldrow. Discuss with your child how she made a plan and worked that plan to reach her goal. Talk about some of the goals that you have achieved and how you reached them.
Third Grade: Introduction To Coping
3rd: Students learned the difference between "rock problems" and "clay problems". Ask your student what a rock problem and clay problem is and ask for examples. Discuss coping strategies for rock problems.
Fourth Grade: Decisions/Consequences
Talk with your children about how everything we do has a consequence and how those consequences can affect our lives. Be sure to give them examples of positive consequences as well as negative and discuss how to make better decisions by thinking about those consequences ahead of time.
Fifth Grade: Test Taking Skills
5th: Students learned test taking strategies. Discuss with your student what his/her favorite strategy is and how he/she might be able to use that strategy during the upcoming SC READY and SC PASS testing.
