Next, the Westside PTO is always looking for more members.
We have a great group of parents ready to lead the PTO this school year. Now we need your help with planning and running events. This includes assisting with small events like room parties or large events like the fundraiser or Grandparent's day.
If you would like information about upcoming PTO meetings or to help out with various school events, stop by the PTO's table in the gym at open house. Or attend the first PTO meeting on August 21st at 6:30 pm in the Westside Library. You could also contact PTO President, Adam Crawford, at WestsideFast.gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration!
Go Westside!
Morning Drop Off
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, LIFE, and ED students enter the playground through the South gate.
3rd and 4th grade will enter through the North gate.
If you have children in both groups, you can drop them all off at whichever gate is most convenient to you.
Students can be dropped off at 7:50 am. There will be no supervision before that time. Students eating breakfast will be let into the school via the playground at 7:50am, as well. Students will eat breakfast in the gym. We stop serving breakfast after 8:05 am.
Please note: Cars are not to park on the North side, East side, or South side of the building, in the drop off lanes. These are moving lanes and the traffic flow needs to continue to move in order for everyone to safely drop off their children. If you would like to walk your child to the gate, please park on the residential side of the streets.
All students arriving to school AFTER the 8:05 start time should come in the main entrance (Door 1).
Thank you for your cooperation!
After School Dismissal
The included document illustrates where each class will be located at dismissal. Students are expected to remain in those lines, until their ride arrives. Older students may walk to pick up their younger siblings. Please have patience and be safe and alert when driving near the school during dismissal times. The 4th graders will have the opportunity to participate in Safety Patrol, which will begin the week of August 28th.
Activity Passes
Activity Passes will be available to all students for $40.
If interested, go to NPS Central Office (512 Phillip Ave) from
4:00 - 6:00 pm on August 10th
or
4:00 - 6:00 pm on August 14th.
Y Kids Club
The YMCA provides before and after school child care here at Westside. Enrollment paperwork is available at the YMCA Welcome Center or on the YMCA website. The paperwork is due ASAP so they can prepare their schedule and hire help. A $25 enrollment fee applies, per child.
If you have any questions, please call Shayla at the YMCA.
The first day of Kids Club is August 21st.
School Supply Lists
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications still need to be filled out!
If you qualified for free or reduced priced lunches in the past (in the Norfolk Public Schools), you must fill out a new application every year. However, you may have had a new application mailed to you with info already filled in to make the task easier. Kindergarten and new students to the district will need to fill out a new form. If you have multiple students in our district, your family will only need to fill out one packet. If you lost your form, you can fill out a new one as well. Please fill these and all other forms out completely and remember to sign and include all Social Security numbers. This paperwork is also used for other programs and purposes like fee waivers for activity cards and fees for athletics participation.

Classroom Rules
Prepackaged Treats
The safety of our children is of utmost importance. We have many students with a wide range of severe, life threatening allergies to various food products. To keep our children safe we are asking that any food products that are brought into the classroom as treats are prepackaged items with ingredients listed.
Thank you for your support in keeping our kids safe.
