Band News

Friday, the High School Band traveled to Manchester High School where they performed in the MSBOA State Band Festival. After earning Superior Ratings at the district level back in March, the band then continued to work and refine their performance to take it to the next level. They performed their 3 selections for the State Adjudicators and earned straight A's in all 5 different categories: Intonation, Rhythm, Tone, Interpretation, and Technique. They then went on to sight-reading where they demonstrated their abilities to talk through, read, and perform a piece of music for the very first time with just 5 minutes of instruction (although the students are not allowed to play during that 5 minutes). The students earned an Excellent Rating for their sight-reading work and combined with their on-stage performance, it earned them an overall Superior Rating! The students will be receiving individual Superior medals and a State Plaque that will be displayed in the band room, recognizing their achievements and hard work.
