Dear Pius X Family,

Please find information and events below that you will find useful for your child's senior year! Please email with any questions!


*If you have not begun applying for college admissions, now is the time!!

  • Must apply to UNL by January 15th to be considered for scholarships
  • Must apply to UNK & UNO by February 1st to be considered for scholarships
  • Other college deadlines are quickly approaching

*Please make sure Naviance is updated with all colleges you have applied to!

*Next SAT Registration Deadline: December 27th.

*Next ACT Registration Deadline: January 9th.


*UNL does not require transcripts to be sent until after the student graduates and makes the decision to attend UNL.

*All other colleges require a current transcript be sent when applying.

*Transcripts for all reasons need to be requested through Naviance

Scholarships News

*Search websites of colleges you are applying to! Many have scholarship applications!

*All students planning to attend college in Nebraska should have an account with Scholarship Quest! Search for in state scholarship opportunities!

*The Burger King Scholars Program is due December 14th.

*The Gates Millenium Scholarship is due January 14th.

*The Buffet Scholarship application is due February 1st.

*Many additional scholarships can be found in Naviance

  • Click the Colleges Tab then click Scholarship List.

Many more scholarships opportunities will be added to Naviance in the coming weeks. Every scholarship is competetive! To give yourself the best chance:

  • Write very well when writing is required
  • Be neat, type applications if possible
  • Follow all instructions completely
  • Ask for letters of recommendation well in advance

Opportunities for Seniors!

*The UN-Omaha College of Business is recruiting high-achieving and ambitious high school seniors seeking unique collegiate opportunities in business. Twenty students will be competitively selected for the Scholars Academy each year, with the first cohort admitted for fall 2015. All students in the program will receive at minimum a $2,500 scholarship each academic year (for four years) and a one-time $2,000 scholarship to study abroad; these scholarships are stackable with most other scholarships available through UNO and CBA. The application for the program can be found here; the priority deadline is December 15 and the final deadline is February 1.

*Southeast Community College (SCC), Lincoln campus, will be having a “Learn to Dream” Day on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 Noon (lunch is served). The day is for students planning to attend SCC and have applied or will apply for the Learn to Dream Scholarship. There will be afternoon tours of NelNet and TMCO (two industries that hire SCC graduates) for those interested. If interested in attending the day, please contact Mr. Nolde in the Guidance Office. The Learn to Dream Scholarship is for students with financial need who plan to attend SCC.

KU students grow algae for biofuel, cleaner water
*The University of Kansas is announcing its Engineering EXPO 2015. EXPO is an annual event that promotes an education in science, technology, and engineering through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and competitions. Formal registration will open on November 15, 2014. High school participant days are Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21, 2015.
