PROUD TO BE A WILDCAT
Distance Learning Starts This Week! Keep Connected to School.
You will begin to receive communication from your child’s teacher sometime this week (if you haven't already). Communication from the teacher will provide you with information on their expectations for student engagement in their class and how/when you or your student can contact their teacher if you or they have questions or concerns. Remember, we want your child to participate in any way you can. The most important thing is to keep your child connected to school.
Grading for Distance Learning
Grading for Distance Learning will vary based on grade level, according to what is appropriate for that age level. For Baker Elementary students, all students will be awarded with credit for the 3rd Trimester. Teachers will use the comments section of the report card to provide feedback on what students were able to complete/master through distance learning.
After reading Flat Stanley, Campbell made a “Flat Wife” & “Cassidy made a “Flat Ariel”
Attendance During Distance Learning is Important
We are required to monitor attendance and participation in our Distance Learning programming. Attendance will be taken by your child's teacher on a weekly basis. If students do not participate/interact with their teacher during the week, they will be marked absent from instruction. “Attendance” will be taken once per week. Our goal is to work with our families to encourage as much participation as possible while being understanding of the challenges that some of our families have that will keep their child from fully participating in the programming being offered.
All of these count for attendance: Logging into Reading Eggs or any online program that your child's teacher suggests; participating in a ZOOM meeting; sending a picture, drawing or writing to the teacher; emailing back to the teacher when you get an email. All teachers have times they are available to help. Just ask!

Every Connection to School Helps Your Child
We know that this may be an unsettling time for you, your family and your child but we are here to help keep things positive! It's okay if you can't do everything, every day. Perhaps one day you can have your child participate in a ZOOM lesson, but the next day you only have time to log in to Reading Eggs for 10 minutes. All school activities, no matter how long or short, big or small, help with learning.
