Wallowa School District - May 25, 2022
End of the Year Shout Out!
As we close the 2021-22 school year in the coming weeks, we have a lot to celebrate! I want to thank all of you for your support this school year. Together we have ensured that Wallowa is the best place for students to learn and grow. The Wallowa community is a very special place and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.
Shortly, we will be saying goodbye to a few staff members, students, and their families. Saying goodbye to people who have made such a huge impact on the Wallowa community is very hard. We always have such mixed emotions as we will miss them but wish them the best of luck.
Since this is the last newsletter of the year, I sincerely hope the summer is relaxing and safe for you all. I know our elementary teachers are sharing ideas with students and families for summer learning, like flashcards, special websites, cooking activities, keeping a journal, letter writing, reading, reading, reading…and much more. In addition, we have the Summer Learning & Enrichment Program this summer and the Summer Fun @ the HUB.
The next weeks will be filled with learning and celebrations. Please join us for our end of the year activities! In case I do not talk to you, have a great summer and we will see you in August!
Sincerely
Dr. Jones
Superintendent
Wallowa Middle School Is Taking Shape
The Wallowa Middle School will consist of grades 6, 7, & 8. It will be housed on the bottom floor of the high school. We know the needs of this age group differs greatly from that of K-5 and 9-12. The Wallowa Middle School will provide a school environment to meet the unique developmental needs of this age group as they explore independence, gain more responsibility in learning and engage with more rigorous curriculum. The Wallowa Middle School will ensure this happens in an intentional way.
We have hosted two meetings for families and have appreciated the ideas and communications. We continue to seek out opportunities to talk with families in grades 5, 6, and 7!
