Semester Exam Absences
Students who will be absent for any semester exams need to request permission and make arrangements for scheduling exams they will be missing using the form in this link. Semester Exam Absence Request December 2021
Semester Exams will not be administered before 11:00 on Tuesday, December 14. Additional exams may be taken on Tuesday 12/14, Wednesday 12/15 or Thursday 12/16 from 2:00 – 4:00 each afternoon. Any exams not completed prior to 1:00 Friday, December 17 must be scheduled after students return to campus on Wednesday, January 5.
Once this completed form is returned to the attendance office, Mrs. Tracie Langford, one of our Assistant Principals, will reach out to teachers about scheduling makeup exams with students and parents.
Progress Reports & UIL Grade Check
Progress Reports will no longer be issued on paper. Official progress report grades will be the grades students and parents will see online in Parent Portal from 8:00 am Monday, November 29 to 8:00 am Tuesday, November 30. During this 24 hour period, teachers will not update grades. If a student who is in UIL activities had a failing grade on their October 8 report card and on the October 29 progress report, they may regain eligibility on December 6 if they are now passing all classes.
Advisory Period Information
5th period Advisory Scheduling for the Week of November 29:
Enriching Students is the application used by students and teachers to schedule practice, tutorials, and or study hall with a teacher of choice instead of with the teacher on a student’s printed schedule. In a typical week, the application is available all day Thursday through 4:00 pm on Friday to schedule advisory classes for the upcoming week. Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, students do not yet have access to scheduling for November 29. We will contact the company and request that they open the scheduling window to allow student to make selections for the week on Monday, November 29 during 2nd period. An announcement will be made to remind students to schedule themselves for the entire week. Students who do not schedule themselves with a teacher every day will be placed in an Advisory class to spend time with an administrator. Unscheduled students need to check their schedule on their phone app or on their Chromebook between 1:00 and 1:10 pm to find the location of their assigned advisory class.
5th period Advisory Scheduling
Beginning November 15, Advisory attendance became linked with attendance recording in teacher gradebooks instead of being housed only in Enriching Students. The change now allows parents to be notified of absences from 5th period. Unfortunately, we are finding that students who are present on campus are not always in the correct Advisory classroom. Students had been notified in advance that attendance procedures were changing and were cautioned to follow their Enriching Students schedule. We will continue to stress the importance of being in the correct classroom, and hopefully the number of absences for 5th period only will gradually reduce.
Students who do not show up in their assigned Advisory are being counted absent by the teacher on their Enriching Students schedule for the day. To avoid being counted absent, students must show up on time in the correct advisory classroom. Students should check their Advisory schedule on their phone app or on their Chromebook between 1:00 and 1:10 pm each day to verify the location of their scheduled or assigned class.
