This week some families will be hearing from us about Summer School for their child. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

We still have some Summer Programs available for interested students. Please contact us at the school if you want your child to have an enriching and educational experience this summer.

GHOST STORY-DEARBORN PARTNERSHIP

In a partnership with Ghost Story students in Mr. Loporto's Game Design classes at the Dearborn were provided coaches from the Ghost Story team to support the students through making a game of their own design. The coaches met with the students via Skype every Friday.

To kick off the project, members of Ghost Story visited the Dearborn to meet the students face to face. This was a really good opportunity for the students to experience creating and learning in an industry environment, in school. Many of these coaches created the games our students play at home.

In a culminating event the students visited the Ghosty Story work space and got to interact with the game design engineers and creators.

Developing 21st Century Communication Skills

The first “open mic SLAM” was held this past week at DSA. A number of students, staff and parents were on hand to participate or to observe poetry, singing, and dancing. For many it was an emotional and meaningful experience. Senior Nakhia Taylor and Ms. Danielle Hughes organized and led the event. Well done!
