The Rock Cycle

The events that happen to a rock

The Cycle

In the rock cycle, there is really no beginning and no end. I will talk about magma first. Magma is made when igneous or metamorphic rocks melt. After the magma cools, it turns into igneous rock. When it is igneous rock, it can either melt back into magma, be weathered and eroded to be sediment, or have heat and pressure act apon it and become metamorphic. If it went to sediment, it would eventually be compacted and become sedimentary rock. When it is sedimentary rock, it can either be eroded back into sediment, or be acted on by heat and pressure and turn into metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rock can be eroded into sediment, or be melted back into magma. The cycle never ends.
