Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Autumn Term 1 - Issue 3
We BELIEVE, so TOGETHER we ACHIEVE!
A word from Mr Broom.
We're now three weeks into the new school academic year and our school routines are settling in nicely. The body clock is working nicely and I seem to wake up every morning at 6am... even Sunday's which can be a pain!
Behaviour in school continues to go from strength to strength and, since the introduction of our new behaviour ladder, children are self-managing their behaviour much more and this is having a positive impact in lessons.
As we continue to seek and value individuality and flair, we've had musical demonstrations of woodwind, brass and stringed instruments in the hope that some of our children will be encouraged to take up their musical talents. More to follow on this in the coming weeks.
Some of our year three children did incredibly well at the local schools' multi-skills festival at Kellington on Thursday. Their exemplary behaviour was noted by many of the visiting teachers.
This week, I've met with all the year five children and parents/carers, where we've talked about the great start to the year and what we expect of them in the months to come. As always, the 'can't do it...yet' mentality was discussed at length.
Next week, it's the Low Mill residential for our wonderful year six children. The excitement is almost unbearable and I'm sure they'll do us proud.
Finally, thank you to those of you who have supported our Twitter drive. The children and teachers can't wait to share their learning with you soon.

Location of Parent Consultations
Miss Ball's Reception class meetings, Mrs Roberton's Year 1 Class meetings and Mrs Butterfield's Year 2 class meetings will take place in the Year 5 classroom. Mrs Dulling's Year 3 class meetings and Miss Smith's Year 4 class meetings will take place in the Year 6 classroom. Please see the map.
While the meetings take place, our children will be working on a project based around the whole school focus on inspiration. We've paired the children up in a way that they can work together to produce some fantastic work and I'm looking forward to displaying it around school.
If you are attending a Tuesday consultation, these will take place in your child's classroom as normal but you will still need to come through the main entrance.

Community Links Developing
I've also made good links with Sherburn White Rose Football Club who will be using our grounds on a Sunday morning. They have agreed to provide school with two sets of football goals, keep the lines marked and help provide us with a new football kit. I'm really looking forward to seeing this partnership develop.
Behaviour Ladder in Place
It's interesting to see that visiting the senior leadership team is just as important as a positive reward as it is a sanction.
