Canvas Pilot coming to FISD in the fall!

Memorial, Trent and Lawler will be piloting a new LMS (Learning Management System) in the fall.

What does this mean for you? Canvas is an LMS, like Moodle (the Learning Hub). Many users find Canvas much easier to use, and it has the capability to play well with Google tools. If the pilot goes well, we would start putting you (yes, you!) into Canvas next spring. You may hear people talking about this from other campuses, so I wanted you to have a heads up!

I know some of you may be anxious to get in there and play but unfortunately we are not able to add teachers early who are not members of the pilot campuses due to cost. If you have any questions, I would be delighted to speak with you! Come see me!

You can view the video below to learn a little more about Canvas.

He held a Twitter chat about that same topic and much of the discussion can be found below his blog post as well. He also has some great things to say about all these "freemium" tools that are out there on the web in his podcast episode about Padlet.

Where is that Grade Change Form?

If you are at CTE, your grade change form is in Formspace.

At LTHS, we use a Google Form. You can find it here. But did you know that it is always available in your lTHS Quick Links folder? If you are logged into Chrome you will see the folder at the top right of your screen. Click on the Quick Links folder and the grade change form is the last thing in the list. Weekly Cleanup Emails Coming!

Very soon you will start getting some weekly emails from me regarding end of the year technology procedures. There are fun things that everyone needs to do to keep things running smoothly, like cleaning up old forms in Formspace and good time things like that. Keep an eye out! Each of the emails will be something that will appear on your end of year checkout for technology, and it is better to do these things a little bit at a time instead of waiting until the last minute.
