Thankfulness for the Pause

Thank you Park View families. We know learning remotely has real challenges and we are trying our best to balance that with the challenges of the pandemic. The holiday travel and gatherings have encouraged spread of the virus and we need to keep students/families and staff healthy to keep our hybrid model in place. Please do not send your child(ren) to school if they are experiencing symptoms. Please contact the health office at 630-827-4072 and share what symptoms your child is experiencing. The health office can create a plan with you for a safe return.

The district sent out important communication that included a new procedure for self-certifying your child(ren) daily to be sure they are symptom free, which starts on Monday (12/7). This is to help everyone pay close attention so students who are ill stay home. Here are the directions for completing this on your computer or on a mobile device on the days your child is attending in-person. This is just one more way to keep us open and continuing our in-person hybrid schedule.

You will be receiving a parent survey next week to indicate your plans for your children after our winter break and adaptive pause. Please tell us if your child(ren) will participate in the remote only or hybrid plan from January to Spring break.

Remote Learning

During remote learning, teachers are assessing student understanding of the content being taught. This is very difficult if the teacher cannot see each student so while remote learning, please be sure your child has their camera on. If for some reason this is difficult, contact your child's teacher to work together. Seeing a child and watching their facial expressions gives a lot of information that a teacher uses to effectively teach each student.

Cleaning Procedures -

One of the cleaning procedures we have implemented is safely spraying our classrooms with a non-toxic disinfectant. This is done daily in the evenings; unless a student leaves school with symptoms during the day. In that case, we will remove students from that classroom for additional spray disinfection. Doing this does not mean the child who left has COVID-19. It is done out of an abundance of caution just to make sure we are covering all possibilities. This is one way we keep each other safe during a pandemic. Please remember that the best way we can keep each other safe is to follow the Healthy=Hybrid / Spanish procedures and follow the 3 W's.

Dropping off or Picking Up of Materials at Park View

If you are picking up or dropping off materials in the front entrance at Park View, please note that our hours are 8 am to 4 pm. If you arrive before or after that window of time, you may not be able to access the front entrance. We want to make sure you know these times.

Snow/Cold Day(s) New Expectations for Families -

This year, we will not use emergency days for snow or cold/inclement weather. Instead, those days will become remote only learning days. This way, we will not need to change our calendar, adding additional days onto our year. This is because our students all now have the ability to continue their learning at home. Please click on this link to read additional information regarding this new procedure.
