Specials
Please also make sure that your students brings their library book to school daily. They are allowed to read them while waiting to enter class in the morning. They are also able to visit the library to exchange books on days that they do not go to the library during specials. They do need their library books on the days that they go to library!
Special Guests!
Writing
This week we are concentrating on making sure we have space between our words. We are also working on way to add a word when we reread our stories.
Reading
We are continuing to discuss main idea!
Science
We will be discussing shadows and the moon this week.
Math
We finished our discussion on addition and subtraction.
This week we are working on telling time to the hour and will begin studying coins.
Please send 2 of each coin (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter) so that your students will be able to use them in class as we discuss them. It is so different to have a REAL coin compared to a plastic one!
Coins are difficult for kids to learn (probably because we all use cards now!). Work with your child at home and let them count your change.
Social Studies
We are sill looking at maps! We will discuss the cardinal directions, our location (community, town, state, nation) using a globe (and Google Earth!), and even create our own maps.
Notes and Reminders
Please check and sign your child's communication folder each and every day.
School starts at 8:00, tardy slips are now being given at 8:01.
School ends at 3:25
All car riders need to remember their car rider color and number for dismissal. If you still need a car rider tag, please stop by the office to be issued one.
First Grade is able to have visitors for lunch on Wednesdays!
Please practice lunch numbers and car rider numbers with your child.
Don't get tripped up at school! Practice tying those shoe laces! Safety first! :)
